Technical supports for the upgrade project of urban traffic in Phnom Penh, Cambodia
The upgrade project of urban traffic in Phnom Penh, Cambodia
With the population of 134,000 (2004), Phnom Penh, the capital city of Cambodia in the southeast Asia, is the center of politics, economic and business. Along with the increase of population and urbanization led by the rapid economic boost, the traffic conditions in the city has become worse each year, and traffic congestions and accidents have been great social issues.
This project was initially contracted to Mets Research & Planning Inc. which has requested to our association for cooperation. Between 2007 and 2009, we provided technical supports for traffic management including traffic control, controls on traffic enforcement, the analysis on traffic accidents, the upgrade to intersections, etc.
